Blankenberge

Blankenberge marina
Blankenberge is a lively seaside resort on the Flemish coast. Along the renovated marina, with moorings for nearly 1,000 boats, there is always something to see or experience. You can sniff up the fresh air, go for a stroll, enjoy a sunny terrace or watch the activities on and around the water along the "paravant" (screen).
Blankenberge has been a flourishing fishing community. The modern marina pays attention to maritime past. Witnesses of its maritime past are for instance the B1 Saint-Peter and a Blankenberg traditional ship (replica). You can also find a replica of a Belgian jettycutter and the Jacqueline-Denise, a renovated shrimpboat from 1940.
If you would like to see the traditional building of a wooden vessel you can visit the Scute yard of the new shipping loods at the Bevrijdingsplein. On the quay at the “barcadère” there are performances on a half shipping vessel regularly.
Practical: Blankenberge Marina is continiously developing. It offers a lot to visitors and is open to the public. Please contact the Tourist Information office for more information.
